Invitron Insulin Assay The Invitron Insulin Assay is an
immunometric
assay for the
quantification of insulin in human plasma. Insulin is a polypeptide
hormone secreted by the β-cells of the pancreas in response to a
glucose challenge. Insulin measurement may be useful in the
investigation of hypoglycaemia, where an inappropriately high
concentration may be indicative of an insulin-secreting pancreatic
tumour. An accurate measure of fasting insulin is also necessary for
the calculation of the HOMA score to assess insulin resistance. Historically, it was recognised
that many insulin assays suffered
significantly from the problem of cross reactivity with intact and
split proinsulins. The Invitron product employs monoclonal antibodies
of
well defined reactivity to minimise problems due to cross reactivity. Key Features Assay Protocol![]() |
